Homeschooling Week 1

Well we survived 4 days of homeschooling. YAY!

The first two days, I apprently, was exhausted from, oh I don't know, being pregnant and all that jazz. So, I decided to sleep in til 9. Then letting the kids sleep in too. Homeschooling, needless to say, didn't start until late. 10:30. So that meant we didn't finish until around 4.

The next two days, Thursday, Friday. We made a point to get up early. Well not EARLY, but earlier, (7:00) and get going by 8. Therefore allowing us to finish by noon. MUCH BETTER
Sam is now officially in the 1st grade, as the kindergarden stuff was WAY to easy for her. Tim worked with her for the past year or so on this great book (Teach Your Child To Read In 100 Easy Lessons) and so she breezes her way through books these days. Luckily she inherited her father's math skill as well. So she's pretty good at that too. She's really really enjoying the homeschooling stuff and the routine and learning new things.

Micah is adjusting to having to play by himself for the first half of the day. I've attempted working with him while Sam is in school, but at this point it's just not working. Perhaps once routine settles in, Sam can do stuff more readily by herself and we get on a BABY routine. (sheesh!!) THEN we'll attempt a bit more concentration with Micah's schooling end of it.

Is it just me or are boys tougher than girls? He'll be 4 in March and still can't count past 4. We're struggling to remember 5. He seems to shut down under pressure. Even though we're not pressuring him hardly at all. We've tried so many different ways of making it fun, trying different things, rewarding, but STILL he just shuts down. Talk about frustrating. And we wont' even TALK about ABC's. OY!

Anyhoo. That's the update for now. I'll post pics of Sam and her cute little antique desk, later.

Newest News...

Well, Samantha is going to start homeschooling tomorrow. We received all of our information/packets/books and all that jazz, from BJU (Bob Jones University) and tonight head out to buy school supplies. I'm getting all misty. My baby is starting 1st grade. Frightening isn't it? I'm going to do the typical mom thing and get her all dressed up. First day of school, yadda yadda, even if it is in my family room. HA!

It's going to be fun trying to get into a routine, THEN having a newborn and trying to STAY in that routine. Prayers would be appreciated.

Micah will be doing some learning and such, during that time as well, however not as intensly as Samantha. He is a typical boy with very little attention span and we're going to have to try many different ways of teaching him. I have figured that out already. Once again, prayers would be appreciated.

I'm down to working only one 6 hour shift a week, and only do that for the next two weeks. After that I will probably be done working. Levi is starting to make me entirely to uncomfortable to even put forth the effort of going in.

That's about all the news for now, I'll try to make a point to post "First Day of School" pictures tomorrow.

Just hanging out.

Not much going on here today. Tim is up in New Prague working again. I've got the house to myself for a few days. Now if it was ALL to myself it'd be okay. :D I need to start up some laundry and my kitchen is screeching at me. And yet here I sit, messing around on the computer. At least I'm posting new pics. :D

My girlfriend Lisa from Connecticut sent the kids some clothes. Thought I'd snap a couple shots.
