Homeschooling Week 1

Well we survived 4 days of homeschooling. YAY!

The first two days, I apprently, was exhausted from, oh I don't know, being pregnant and all that jazz. So, I decided to sleep in til 9. Then letting the kids sleep in too. Homeschooling, needless to say, didn't start until late. 10:30. So that meant we didn't finish until around 4.

The next two days, Thursday, Friday. We made a point to get up early. Well not EARLY, but earlier, (7:00) and get going by 8. Therefore allowing us to finish by noon. MUCH BETTER
Sam is now officially in the 1st grade, as the kindergarden stuff was WAY to easy for her. Tim worked with her for the past year or so on this great book (Teach Your Child To Read In 100 Easy Lessons) and so she breezes her way through books these days. Luckily she inherited her father's math skill as well. So she's pretty good at that too. She's really really enjoying the homeschooling stuff and the routine and learning new things.

Micah is adjusting to having to play by himself for the first half of the day. I've attempted working with him while Sam is in school, but at this point it's just not working. Perhaps once routine settles in, Sam can do stuff more readily by herself and we get on a BABY routine. (sheesh!!) THEN we'll attempt a bit more concentration with Micah's schooling end of it.

Is it just me or are boys tougher than girls? He'll be 4 in March and still can't count past 4. We're struggling to remember 5. He seems to shut down under pressure. Even though we're not pressuring him hardly at all. We've tried so many different ways of making it fun, trying different things, rewarding, but STILL he just shuts down. Talk about frustrating. And we wont' even TALK about ABC's. OY!

Anyhoo. That's the update for now. I'll post pics of Sam and her cute little antique desk, later.
